Blog Review

This week in Interior Design our task was too explore numerous Interior Design blogs and select three of our favorites.  Blogs are a useful tool for Interior Designers to share their designs and ideas. An Interior Designer"s blog is a chance to convey to others their style and what they as a designer has to offer.

My favorite blog that I found while analyzing
Swing Table - The King Arthur various design blogs was hwww.designshell.com/ where the writer takes different ranges of Interior Design and writes about them on her blog. This blog interested me for both their site layout and their overall unique and abstract designs/items. On first glance at the site every picture appears to be black and white until you lean your cursor over a picture. I thought that was a unique aspect adding character to the blog. Also the layout  makes it easy to see each design so you are not left scrolling endlessly page after page. The fact that the writer uses various assorts of design make for really unique and diverse pieces throughout the site. The first piece that caught my eye was the dinning room table that replaced chairs with swings. I especially enjoyed this blog for the fact that they didn't have the typical aspects of  design that we are accustomed to. They had typical items but with a unique twist, such as the table with swings and the dresser with an abstract carving added.Abstract shapes along with tiny houses/storage and space seemed to be trending on most of the blogs that I have visited.

Another blog that I found fascinating was http://dornob.com/. This particular blog allows one to choose among hundreds of trendy articles from a variety of categories including tree houses, recycled materials, and art and design. I came across this article of a man who created a room half graffiti and left the other half white. I was really drawn toward the contrast of the room. Articles such as that make this blog more appealing to me ,because the article brings one to see designs we wouldn't typically see on a regular basis.

Lighting-Fixtures-that-Look-Like-Helium-Balloons-04The last blog I looked at is very similar as the last in the way where it is hundreds of different interior design articles sorted out into several categories. The only real difference is that http://icreatived.com/category/architecture/  lists the most recent and popular articles on top. In my brief browsing, one item that stood out to me from this blog was the light fixers that look like balloons. Overall, after viewing a few different design blogs it is clear that blogs can be beneficial as a designer to captivate and inspire others with your designs or interests, just as though those three blogs did for me.
