This is the house I chose for age 22 with a salary of $35,000 and a house spending budget of around $173,000 ($816 a month). At the age of 22 I'd be living near the college I am attending with roommates therefore, I chose this 3 bedroom house in Winona for the price of $149,900.
At the age of 33, we were also given a salary of a spouse to add into our house budget now making my house budget $588,000 ($2,784 a month). The life cycle has changed at this age because I'd have to live near work instead of college and I wouldn't need roommates anymore. This 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house is located in Austin Mn and is $569,000. At this age I'd like to live a bit farther away ,but still in Minnesota and still close enough to family. I chose a house with multiple bedrooms because I'd like to host family gathering such as Christmas and Thanksgiving. With the extra bedrooms family and friends will have a place to stay.
The last house is my favorite by far and it is at the age of 42. It may look like Halloween 24/7 from the outside but, I love the old feel of everything on the inside from the detailing to the dark colors. At this age my house budget was $700,000 ($3,328 a month) and this house I chose was $690,000. This last house is in Red Wing MN and as far as the housing life cycle, it is quite similar as the house at age 33. The only difference is that if I stayed in this house, as I got older, I would be able to live on one level and not have to climb stairs unlike the other two houses. Overall, I learned that you can't base buying a house off of what it looks like, you have to think about the future and how it will fit your needs.
